We parked our car once the road got too rough to drive on, and walked the rest of the way. The road wound past bee boxes, two beaches, with the blue Aegean flanking your right field of vision the entire way. The road turned around a bend and that was when we saw it. The Drakano Tower stood out starkly against the bright blue sky. We finally made it!

There are several little corners in Europe where myth and reality are so intertwined that the lines between them are wonderfully blurred. Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, is one such place. Here dragons (or rather, the Ljubljana Dragon) play into history as much as any other sobering realities. The result is a magical, fantastical, and charming place.
Scotland is, without a doubt, one of my favorite places in the world. There is something incredibly wonderful and comfy about the entire country. To me, it feels like home. I will have to talk about so many of the lovely spots that I had the chance to visit while doing research for my masters thesis, but today, I will talk about just one amazing place. The Ring of Brodgar in the Orkney Islands.
When the plane touched down, my husband and I found ourselves in a Tolkien-esque environment, with jaw dropping cliff faces, blue ocean all around us, and the sun shining bright. It was our first time visiting the Faroe Islands, this gorgeous group of islands in the North Atlantic between Iceland and Scotland. The Faroes are populated with fishermen, captains, the most lovely, down to earth, salty people, and sheep. We had one of the best travel experiences of our lives here.
When visiting Iceland, we were excited about the thermal springs everywhere. Everyone has heard of the Blue Lagoon located southwest of Reykjavik for obvious reasons, it is a stunning facility where, as a guest, you are pampered. But not many people have heard of the Hveravellir thermal springs. My husband and I (fiance at the time) were looking for something a little less formal. We wanted to go straight into the ground. No finesse, no spa, just pure thermal springs and us. Hveravellir did not disappoint did not disappoint.
There are few places that I have been to that evoke the feeling of what Paris in the 1920s must have felt like, with Hemingway and artists of all kinds talking about world issues, philosophy, and history. Café No Sé in Antigua, Guatemala, is one of those places. The crowd is an eclectic mix of musicians, expatriates, vacationers, and those just traveling through with no end destination in mind. This establishment seared itself on my mind, and I always want to return.
Nothing can quite prepare you for the Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood. Located in Saint Petersburg, Russia, this church looks like it came straight out of a fairy tale. Topped with brightly colored domes that are lit up at night, this magnificent architectural beauty exceeds expectations.
Perfect white pebbles and clear blue water. That is what you are in for when you visit the Seychelles Beach along the southern coast of Ikaria, Greece. For anyone looking for the idyllic Greek beach to see while they are on vacation, this is the place to visit.
I had never wanted to do any long term travelling with an infant. However, when I found out that my mother was going to Greece, my sister and brother in law were going to Greece, and that my brother who hasn’t taken a vacation in 13 years was going to Greece, I told my husband, we are going to Greece.
